We love to have fun....

I am visibly shocked that I had to drive 500 kilometers away from my beloved city to realize this. Most people speak the term ' Mombasa Raha' but in reality  Nairobi people have more fun. Just to put everything in context, it's the middle of the night and I'm sitting on the beach at a 5 star hotel facing the ocean. I am here on business but the last 2 hours have been the most fun I have had in weeks.
I stated that nairobians have more fun and coast is the most fun. This is primariy because nairobians are a set of hardworking individuals, the ones that I relate myself with anyway, and those that work hard play hard too.
I heard a story today from a friend of a friend that I realized would help in understanding this stuff, the gentleman in question would be fondly known as Mark. Mark was in school in a Nairobi university but one day took a trip to Mombasa. While here he juts fell in love with the place and decided to transfer his credits here. He has thus been here for close to 12 years. Mark is one among many nairobians who after sampling and exhausting what Nairobi has to offer move in for a better and bigger high. This does not necessarily diminish what Nairobi has to offer but clearly describes the hunger that nairobians have for fun.

So what are the variables that are necessary in the life of Nairobians that are then used to create the aforementioned fun. How about we start with the basic component, money, we labour all day and in some cases all tonight for this money. We have the CEO stuck in his office or up and down in meetings trying yo get it, we have the sales person knocking in doors to try and get and even that girl who is hustling a bunch of guys to raise sine funds. Money has been the driving force in our lives for a very long time and it has been very visible when it comes to the size of the population. Forget the fact that up country has the best air water and probably food availability. People will move in droves to Nairobi with the promise of more money and in their understanding less problems, which was not the case.
The second and most important component is company, I mean that group of friends that sit down and chat over a beer or the ones that hit the road and start club hoping. You do a proper mix if money and company and you have the best sort if fun ever, I know this because I have a bit if both.

Now how do the unmonied  people party, well check out the death counter on the illicit brew and you know.

She killed him.........................

A man’s primary purpose in life is to provide, both for the present and the future. Often, nothing he possesses naturally is seen as inherently valuable. For a woman, however, the opposite is true, as she is born with much of what is deemed valuable for the species. It's a rather bleak topic to discuss, yet it reflects a truth we have come to understand. Recently, I buried a great man who did everything right, though it wasn’t enough to earn him the long life he so deserved. Born and raised in poverty, he was on his way to becoming the best in his field, until he met someone he couldn't resist. As a child, he encountered a beautiful girl whom he believed could walk on water. Their young love blossomed in the dusty, rural farmlands of western Kenya, only for life’s circumstances to separate them for nearly two decades. During their time apart, he built a foundation that his peers from the village could only dream of. From barefoot maize harvests in the village to excelling at a ...

How Much Is Enough? I think I figured it out.....................

I recently faced a situation that I have faced multiple times, getting vindicated for my integirty while those who chose a different path finding themselves on the wrong side. I have worked in the industry I am in for almost 16 years now and during that time I have seen colleagues get rich through dubious means. My time in this iindustryhas made me aware of ways in which this is possibe but I have always questioned on whether it is worth it. Guys getting kick backs or outright theft looks attractive in the moment but at the end of the day you always get caught and find yourself in a worse of position than before. We see the same thing in our politicians and even though theirs is the making oofa kleptocracy we always ask ourselves, How much is really enough? I think I may have found out how much in my perspective may be enough. KES. 300 MILLION Hear me out on this, if you were to have a windfall or accumulate wealth in a short time i personally believe that amount would serve my family ...

FROM A FRIEND...TO ME

This goes out to all of the people who have been broken but have been strong enough to let go. For the people who have hurt so badly that they felt they could never love again, but kept their head up. For those who feel like going back to their old lover to put all the pieces back where they belong in hopes everything would fit, but accept the cold hard truth instead. For the people that learn from their mistakes and never stop moving forward, even when they take two steps back. For the people that wish loneliness wasn’t a part of them, but put up with it anyhow. For the people who come home with no missed calls, but smile anyway. For the people that periodically miss the past, but are so much more excited for the future. For the people that have wounds still healing. For the people that have so much tied to their past relationship, but break those chains to start fresh. For the people that want to look back so badly, but focus on the road ahead. For the people that pick up the phone s...
